DUBAI – Now on it’s sixth year, SINULOG SA UAE 2018 sets to bring more audience on a better, bigger and accessible venue at Al Shabab Al Arabi Club, Mamzar Dubai on Fabuary 9, Friday starting 8AM onwards. Dubbed as “GIPABONGGA, GIPAKUSGAN”, this year’s celebration expects to attract Pinoys all over the region for a full-day colorful event.
The yearly festivities had already became a culture to bisdak’s (short for Bisayang Dako or true-blooded Visayan, Visayan-speaking Filipino) most-loved festival in the UAE. This festival also commemorates Filipino’s acceptance of Christianity in the country who believed to have originated in Cebu. Known to be the grandest festival in the Philippines, Sinulog is held every third of January in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City. Other areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao also celebrate the festival on the same day.
Six years ago, United Cebuanos in the UAE brought that piece of home closer to Pinoy expats in the emirates. Over the years, the organization has successfully staged the festival gathering thousands of Pinoys and even other nationalities to a fun-filled day.
A bunch of activities are lined-up for an exciting day in Dubai. SINULOG SA UAE will hold extra activities like a Zumba Party sa Kabuntagon (in the Morning), games and prizes to be given away, face painting booths and food bazaars will be set-up within the venue. Everyone has to be there in the traditional “SADSAD” (Dance) in the Sinulog beat courtesy of the UC’s Dubai Bugle Corps.
Five (5) finalists will complete as they belt their pieces in “Sinulog Idol – GRAND FINALS”. A series of eliminations were held earlier during two consecutive Fridays at Kita Kits Kafe, Marco Polo Hotel.
Different delegations will compete for Sinulog Dance Parade and Dance Interpretation. Each contingent will be represented by their muse to vie “Sinulog Festival Queen 2018” title. A photo competition, dubbed as “Pitikan sa Sinulog” will also run throughout the event.
Of course, after-party will follow…
